SKILLS UPGRADATION

Skill upgradation is the need of the hour to create wealth in the country. Skilling is a lifelong process. Hence, skill upgradation and reskilling are fundamental components of the skilling cycle. SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL also sees a close connection between skilling and entrepreneurship. We seek to create synergies between these two areas, so that our youth can aspire to being job seekers and job creators.

The expectation of a finished product/ candidate/ service today is higher than before. No corporate want to hier candidates to whom they have to train all basic things before sending them on floor for duties. To deliver up to these expectations, candidates are required to have adequate skills, without which they will never be up to the required standards. The gap between skills present in candidates and the skills required is vast and even though candidates are willing to learn, no mechanism / program have been able to bridge this gap. SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL has the ability to train candidates and empower them with skill which is acceptable by Regional/ National/ International standards with proper induction and assessment of candidate.

Why Skills Upgradation is required in India?

According to a recent study on ‘Skill Analysis of Engineering Graduates’, around 97% Engineers of our country are unable to speak English and around 80% of the same lack industry skills for the software market. Less than 20% of our engineers are eligible enough to work in the global software market. India is the largest producer of the engineering workforce in the world. Around 600,000 engineers pass out annually from numerous elite engineering colleges in India and out of them only 20% are skilled enough to survive in the competitive global job market.

India is known to the world as a country with maximum young minds, who if skilled adequately could drive the country’s economy at its best. Take into account that with such less bandwidth of skilled manpower, our country has managed to secure its place in the list of world’s top ten developing economies; now think, what will happen if our country has the largest bandwidth of skilled young minds in the world. Skill gap in India is so huge that despite having numerous engineering jobs, our country fails to fulfill increasing market demand of skilled manpower. According to the study, most of our engineers are not even eligible for a job in the knowledge economy. Only 18.43% are compatible for the software engineering job market of India.

A possible explanation of this shocking result lies in:

  • Poor Education Methods
  • Zero Market Training
  • Rapid increase in the demand of skilled workforce
  • Minimal upgradation of syllabus

The biggest irony is that Indian education system is still more theoretical than practical. Changing market standards have increased the demand of trained workforce, but our country has constantly failed to deliver the same because of its traditional and rigid education module.

With the aim to upgrade the skills for the youth who is under employed or for those who want to specialize few skills in their domain so that they can get better pay and better living standard, SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL has opened many skills development center in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab where such candidates can get trained and get employed with better financial independence.
