SKILLS FOR JOBS

India is expected to be home to a skilled workforce of 500 million by 2022. About 12 million persons are expected to join the workforce every year. This talent pool needs to be adequately skilled. The following sectors are expected to drive the growth of the economy as well as play a significant role in employment:

PRIME SECTORS OF EMPLOYMENTS IN FUTURE
Auto and Auto Components
Textiles
Building and Construction Materials
BFSI
Real Estate Services
Organised Retail
Electronics and IT Hardware
Tourism and Hospitality
Education and Skill Development Services
Transportation and Logistics
Food Processing
Media and Entertainment
Healthcare
IT & ITES

The employment in the manufacturing and services sector would be in excess of 250 million persons. While the school education sector is about 227 million in enrolment, the combined enrolment in higher education and vocational training is about 15.3 million. By limiting to this to the technically and vocationally qualified and skilled workforce, primarily comprising of ITI/ITC (1 million), BE (1.7 million), Polytechnics (0.7 million), we can observe that the current pool of skilled talent is around 3.4 million . It is thus estimated that the required capacity for training the new workforce as well as portion of the existing workforce would be about 15 million annually.

Many of them don`t get an employment due to lack of basic skills required by corporate sectors and end up being part of the unskilled, underemployed workforce, affecting competitiveness of industries. In 2013, SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL ventured into skills development to create long term impact, aligned to the manpower needs of the Corporate world. Our aim is to equip the Indian youth with actual skills which are required for Jobs and thats why we name it as `Skills for Jobs` programmes linking every successful trainee to employment in organized sector. We have opened many skills development centers in Himachal and Punjab where our team of Trainers are training the graduate and non graduate candidates with soft skills as well as technical skills so that they can get employed in today's competitive world.

We follow a standardized value chain which ensures the `right candidate` is skilled for `right job`. Our target group includes a wide range of learners, especially those who are from `Bottom of Pyramid` groups and have little or no exposure to skills and training. We also deliver the widest range of employability programmes for under graduates and post graduates that hone their work skills and provide them a combination of domain and life skills. For us Skills Development and Entrepreneurship are core to youth engagement and poverty alleviation. We have created a model , which is globally recognized for its impact and on improving the way people acquire skills and on how industry retains manpower.
